I am Sarah, a young Belgian designer, with a broad and open-minded outlook. I was lucky enough to grew up in a family of artists – my mother was a pianist and my father is an architect. They both gave me the passion for beauty, completed by a deep understanding of art across multiple disciplines.
Profoundly influenced by the surrealism, especially Magritte’s work, I like borrowing images from the past – images that we all have in our memory, thanks to our culture. This allows me to create an emotional connection between the object and the user. By using a familiar element as if it were a melody, we can lead the subject to more experimental places and create the unexpected from the ordinary.
The relation between the object and the user is really fundamental for me. In fact, I think that one of our duty as designer is to design long lasting products. I want to design objects that will be transmitted from a generation to another. Objects that are lasting not only because they are physically capable of surviving through the years but also because we love them so much and that they give us so much of their quality that we will love them every single day.
